STUDENT: Cyndi Briggs, Third Year Part Time
ASSIGNMENT: Folio Circus Tragique
COMMENT: In this folio, I wanted to portray the circus sub-culture, but give it a cheeky twist, where at ‘Circus Tragique’ it all goes wrong. This circus is going broke. The props and backdrops are dodgy. The performers are dodgy. And because the performers can’t get anything right, the circus can’t afford to buy anything new (or hire decent acts!) And so the circle continues.

The three performers (with three images each) – the Strong Man, the Human Cannonball and the Fortune teller, all start with an establishing shot (proud), then an action/detail shot (trying and failing), then the last shot shows how it’s all gone wrong.  The Human Cannonball however, ended up with four images. This one was originally an extra pose and an ‘outtake’, but it just couldn’t be left out!
