Over the past few days, we’ve been featuring a bunch of students who finished their studies at PSC at the end of 2016. Today we’re featuring Cassidy Chappell (Commercial Major).

Why did you choose to study at PSC?
I wanted to study at the best school and PSC was at the top of the list.

How did you grow throughout your time at PSC?
I have become a lot more confident as a photographer. I am now able to critically evaluate my own work and have found and developed my own personal style. I have not only acquired many technical skills, I have been able to develop skills in planning and story telling through my images.

What process did you go through for your final project?
Having just had a baby, my photographic focus changed dramatically. I was faced with having to juggle being a new mother and expressing myself creatively. So by combining the two, I was able to explore my new world through the eyes of a mother and the photographer I had become, capturing raw moments and being able to inject some humour into a new type of story.

What are your plans from here?
I am building my photography business and shootings events as well as family, baby and pet portraits. I need to be able to work form home for the next few years, but I hope to branch out into other avenues in the commercial world.

What advice would you give to anyone starting their studies at PSC?
Give it everything. Plan and storyboard your portfolios. Have no regrets and stay true to who you are. Explore and have fun and always shoot what you’re passionate about.
