Snap, Crackle, Popculture

We were excited to host photographer and Nikon Ambassador Delly Carr at PSC yesterday afternoon. Ranked as Australia’s top freelance Sports photographer, Delly's lifetime list of clients reads like a who's who of the Australian sporting scene.

Delly captivated students and staff with stories from his journey from self appointed photographer on school excursions to winning the best photo of the Sydney Olympics. His talk was humorous and heartfelt, full of great advice about the business and heart of photography.

He also presented his personal project 'Snap, Crackle, Popculture'. Following the death of his father, Delly sought to reconnect with his childhood by collecting toys and figurines and discovered the world of cosplay - the practice of dressing up as a character from a movie, book, comic or television show. Fascinated by these subcultures Delly has spent the past ten years exploring popculture and capturing people in costume.

Thank you Delly for your authentic and inspirational presentation and to Nikon for sponsoring this lecture, we look forward to the next one!

Snap, Crackle, Popculture is on display in Melbourne at Michaels Photographic Gallery until 30 September. Check the website for further details.
