Amnesty International Internship for PSC Students

Written by Social Media | 29 September 2018 4:04:00 AM

Amnesty International Australia is a section of the Amnesty International network, the global movement promoting and defending human rights and dignity, undertaking advocacy and mobilising people to put pressure on governments and others to end rights violations.

PSC is proud to collaborate with Amnesty on a project that will give our students the opportunity to be involved as photographers and video makers in activities organised by Amnesty in Melbourne. Our students will be trained by Amnesty as a volunteer, accompany active campaigners to document events, and be mentored by experienced Amnesty staff.

This collaboration is part of PSC’s broad community outreach, it prepares students for the workforce, and demonstrates the power of the image in world affairs.

11 PSC students will be undertaking a 9-month internship with Amnesty.

One PSC student has been offered the opportunity to contribute directly to Amnesty’s AM-Unity Magazine as a photographic artist to complement some of the articles.

Students selected will be trained by Amnesty as volunteers, accompanying active campaigners to document events, and will be mentored by experienced Amnesty staff

The program launched on 17 September 2019.

If you are inspired to become a photojournalist or documentary photographer to make a difference and support a cause, this just might be the right career for you.

Applications are now open for our 2019 BA intake.
