PSC Remains Open

PSC continues to provide its teaching and learning to students on campus, consistent with the Australian and Victorian Government decision to keep schools and universities open.

That position is based on the unanimous advice of the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee, made up of federal and state medical and health officers.

PSC's new campus provides the ideal environment for social distancing

With the timely opening of our new purpose built Montague Precinct campus, together with maintaining our separate city campus, PSC is able to provide a setting in which social distancing can be practiced in small  modern and fully equipped class room settings while teaching and learning can continue safely for teachers and students.

PSC's system for students who are unable to attend classes

PSC’s teaching and assessment has long been supported by its Moodle -based Learner Management System mi-Place which is accessible 24 hours a day off campus to all students. Through mi-Place, any student who has been unable to attend a class for any reason whether work, travel or health related could continue to access the learning resources for their subject or unit.

From today, mi-Place support is being enhanced with the ability to join the class session remotely through a Zoom link. This additional support is being introduced first to our cohort of Masters students and is being progressively introduced for all classes

With the opening of our new Montague Campus students will find PSC progressively introducing new technology enabled platforms for example to provide selected video content to support remote learning, and supplement its existing on line Library and mi-Place resources.

PSC's contingency in the event there is a temporary closure of tertiary institutions

We are preparing our teaching staff in technology assisted learning in the event that the Australian and Victorian Government advice changes regarding closure of educational facilities as part of a community wide lockdown in response to the pandemic. This work is being ably lead by our Dean of Photography Studies Daniel Boetker-Smith together with our Digital Technology Convenor Nic Kocher.

PSC's close relationship with Southgate Medical Centre

PSC has a close relationship with Southgate Medical Centre who are continuing to provide us with the latest health advice.

PSC maintains a sense of community

A sense of belonging to a community has and will always be a key objective of PSC in whichever mode of delivery is required to meet the present crisis. We are working hard to ensure that our community will continue to be strengthened despite the challenges of the present day.
