Curated by Naomi Cass this exhibition examines the abandonment of the contract between photographer and subject. From de-classified ASIO images of the 1960s to Kohei Yoshiyuki’s now infamous documentary series, The Park (1970–1979), this exhibition considers the documentary camera and the art camera, and their relationship to the subject, who is unaware of being photographed.

Occasionally disturbing, the exhibition provokes the audience not so much by revelling in the acts of others but by making the audience accomplices to the very act of watching. “They’re about looking and not understanding,” says Cass. “You really are implicated in the voyeurism.”

Warning: Full-frontal nudity, adult concepts. Under 16s must be accompanied by a parent of legal guardian.
