“It is only necessary to briefly look at the images on the walls around us to be struck by their intimacy and their lack of artifice. That Michael is able to get so close - both physically and emotionally to his subjects, speaks not only of his skill as a photographer..... but also shines a light onto him as a person.

For these images show their subjects in widely diverse moments of time and activity - some intimate, some defiant, some casual, some confronting and some devoid of the intrusions of the camera...... or indeed of the presence of the photographer…”
