Take a journey into the surreal world of construction happening under Melbourne's feet.
My latest body of work ‘Art of the underground’ features images captured entirely under Melbourne focusing on the beauty of the infrastructure unwittingly created during the construction of the Northern Sewerage Project and the Melbourne Main Sewer Replacement Project. This body of work is a bold, colourful and textural interpretation of the essence of construction deep below Melbourne’s city and suburbs. The images were shot in the most challenging environments of my career. The conditions were extreme; up to sixty-five metres below ground and required to shoot in mud, water, high humidity, cramped spaces and very low light. Each shoot was an exhaustive process both mentally and physically as well as creatively. This collection is a glimpse into a world that once commissioned for use won’t be seen again in our lifetime. It offers a unique perspective into what lies beneath our feet.
