WINNERS of the ‘Dream with PSC’ photo competition for Victorian year 11 and 12 senior secondary school students received their prizes at a special awards ceremony on Tuesday night 9 February 2021 at our College in South Melbourne.

It was wonderful to see the prize-winning students, their teachers and families. Ted's Cameras Professional & Retail Sales Consultant Teresa Marino, who was one of the competition’s three judges, awarded the prizes to students and schools.

PSC’s Managing Director Julie Moss spoke about our strong connections to the secondary school system that have flourished over the College’s more than 45-year history. She also praised the winners for their creativity and exceptional standard of work.

Grand Prize WINNER Kylie Mburu from Our Lady of the Sacred Heart College attended with her family and the school's Studio Art teacher, Marie Salinger. Kylie received a $500 Ted's Camera Stores voucher for herself and one of equal value for her school.

People’s Choice Award WINNER Kasra Babaei from Ashwood High School accepted his prize of a $250 voucher from Ted’s Cameras and one of equal value for his school. Kasra attended with his mother Maryam, Careers Counsellor Jodie and Studio Art Teacher Annalisa.

Students Conor McCaul and Lily Le Miere from School With The Most Entries WINNER, Brighton Secondary Collegeaccepted $500 credit into a Ted’s Cameras Secondary School Account on behalf of their school.

The theme of the competition, ‘Dream with PSC’,  provided an opportunity for students to create a ‘dream image’ that was seen by a national and international audience. This was particularly poignant given the challenges faced during 2020 when the images were taken.

The judges panel comprised PSC’s Dean of Photography Studies Daniel Boetker-Smith, Ted’s Cameras representative Teresa Marino, and PSC Bachelor of Photography student Kiyan Ahmadizadeh.

PSC Dean of Photography Studies Daniel Boetker-Smith said that the judges were struck by the quality and diversity of the submissions.

"The stunning visuals and in-depth stories made the shortlisting and selecting a very difficult process,” Daniel said.

All student attendees also received printing vouchers for use at the Colleges Printshop @ PSC.

Stay tuned for the announcement of our next Victorian senior secondary school photography competition call for entries. This competitions theme is ‘Home’.
